Local Ohio RV Rental Company Makes Good
Despite Soaring Gas Prices
Lorain, OH -- Gas prices are staying around $3 per gallon and recreational vehicle (RV) rentals have increased for one privately-owned and operated business in the Cleveland, Ohio area.  Despite fuel costs, Neff Brothers RV, Inc. (NBRV) is standing out and standing tall in the vacation industry. Averaging more than 300 rentals a year, NBRV is in the business of making family vacations special and memorable.

Neff Brothers RV is located in Lorain, Ohio, about 40 miles West of Cleveland.  The family-owned and operated RV rental business has more than 25 units for rent, from Aliner pop-ups and hybrid trailers, to hard-top trailers, Class "C" and Class "A" motor homes and luxury diesel pushers.  Neff Brothers RV is one of the largest privately-owned rental companies in the Midwest.

"When gas prices increase, so do airline tickets," explains Co-Owner and President Bill Neff.  "It's cheaper for a family with more than four people to rent an RV for travel alone than it is to fly them round-trip to just about anywhere."

A family of four would pay a minimum of $2900 for round-trip airfare to Orlando, Florida from Cleveland, Ohio (according to Continental airfare rates for May 2005).  The same family could rent an RV for approximately $1900 to make the exact same trip.

When renting an RV, the overall average hotel rate of $110 per night (according to Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study by J.D. Power & Associates in 2001) is traded for a much more reasonable campsite rate.  Campsite rates can range anywhere from $6 per night, for those who belong to discount camping clubs, to $70 per night, for those looking to stay at luxury theme park campsites.

Campsites are similar to hotels in that they are rated by different organizations or directory services for their amenities.  Many campsites will have the conveniences of water, electricity, cable television and sewer hook-ups.  Most campsites will also have a grocery, laundry and public restroom and shower facility.  Many others will offer swimming pools, fishing ponds, beaches, organized sports and athletic fields, children activities, entertainment events, playgrounds, hiking trails, rec rooms with video arcades, outdoor pavilions and church services.  State parks are popular destinations and Ohio houses more than 50, which allow primitive to full hook-up camping.  As with a hotel, you pay for what you get!

Another factor to take into consideration is the cost of food.  When flying, it will cost you three meals per day, plus tax, plus gratuity and do not forget purchasing snacks.  When RVing, there is the option of cooking at the campsite fire pit, in the fully-equipped kitchen or dining out.  If breakfast and lunch are prepared at the campsite instead of purchased at a restaurant, a family of four could save upward of $55 per day;  estimating a $6 breakfast and $7 lunch are on the menu.

If flying, the rental car must be purchased when you reach the destination airport.  According to The Hertz Corporation, a single-week rental of a five-passenger Ford Explorer would cost approximately $315.  Do not forget fuel and insurance also have to be purchased.

So what is the reason to rent versus buying an RV?  Renting is a turn-key operation for people who want to enjoy a short-term RV lifestyle but are not ready to settle in for the long-term change or long-term financial responsibility of owning one.  They rent to bond with their families and friends, they rent to have no worries about being rushed from one airport to another, from one hotel to another, from one tourist attraction to another.  RVers travel on their own schedule all the time.  Traveling becomes part of the vacation.

"Many of our renters are middle-aged parents who want a hassle-free vacation with the kids one last time," says Co-Owner and Secretary/Treasurer Ralph Neff.  "RVing let's the small children have a great outdoor experience, the teenagers enjoy time with the family as well as on their own watches and the parents sit back with no time table to follow and no headaches of keeping everyone in the family happy.  RVing can keep all ages smiling for the entire vacation."

Why rent from a privately-owned rental company versus a franchised, nationwide rental company?  Privately-owned businesses will give the customer the attention and respect they deserve.  Privately-owned businesses take pride in the product and service, have their own customized policies for the renters, can negotiate prices and offer fully-equipped RVs.  Large companies have blanket policies, blanket pricing and basic RVs.

Another benefit Neff Brothers RV offers that large RV rental chains cannot is delivery and pick-up.  "We just implemented a delivery and pick-up service for clients who live outside a 25-mile radius of our location," states Bill.  "This service has been accepted with open arms from our customers who want to take advantage of the time-saving aspect it offers toward their vacations."

Renters find a turn-key operation, knowledgable staff and friendly faces at Neff Brothers RV.  Everyone at Neff Brothers RV is ready to make each renter's experience an unforgettable one.

"Our goal is to have each person who enters our door convinced on coming back next year or the following year," states General Manager Angela Dudziak, who also is Bill's daughter and Ralph's niece.  "We run this business with the same morals we have in our own family and all we want is to see each of our customers happy with the experience they have.  We never want someone to go away with a sour taste for RVing in their mouth."

The Neff Brothers have more than 20 years of combined experience in the RV industry.  "We got the idea to start this rental business over a frothy mug of beer one night, and ever since, we keep things laid back and real," says Bill.  "This family knows how to come together and make things happen and we do it for every customer, every day."  Bill is a retired electronics technician from N.A.S.A. and Ralph is a retired field engineer from IBM.

Customers of Neff Brothers RV rave about the product and service they receive.  "We thank Neff Brothers RV for providing us a trouble-free motor home," says Rick Jones of Aurora, Ohio.  "They picked the perfect unit for us as it accommodated all our needs.Ê We had plenty of space for sleeping and evening conversation along with using the RV for camping purposes.  The pre-trip orientation was great for us novices and it made for a trouble-free hook-up at our campsite, as well as allowed us to benefit from all the features available within the motor home."

Neff Brothers RV caters not only to the vacationer, but the corporate renter.  "Some large corporations have used our RVs for transporting clients and administrators to many U.S. destinations," states Ralph.  "The RV makes for a great meeting area, so no time is lost when the RV is in motion.  Business can be conducted on the road as well as at the final destination."

Other common RV renters use motor homes for tailgate parties and NASCAR races.  "More than 25% of our renters in 2004 and 2005 went to some type of motorized race," says Dudziak.  "Michigan and Indy are sold out weekends every summer, but we also get the guys going to Bristol, Taladega and Daytona in the spring."  Tailgaters also use the RVs often in the fall for football season. "Home Ohio State games are almost always sell-out weekends," continues Dudziak.  "RV tailgating entices every football fanatic and this 2005 season will hopefully be no different than the past."

Neff Brothers RV, Inc. is located at the Baumhart Road exit and Route 2 and is easily accessible from the Ohio Turnpike.  "Rent-a-Venture" for the next vacation, corporate or athletic event which is planned.  For more information, visit www.neffbrosrv.com or call 440-282-5600.  All questions or concerns about renting can be answered with a single click or call.
